The introduction to the calendar states: All year round, in every region of the globe, ISO standards are in action. They help at work, in the home and at play to ensure that important values are put into practice. Such values include quality, safety, efficiency and environmental friendliness. Standards help to achieve these values while using fewer resources and less effort. In turn, this can mean lower prices for customers.
ISO standards are present in everything from tools to toys, medical devices to management, motor vehicles to space craft. Each issue of ISO's flagship magazine, ISO Focus+ carries a Special Report on one aspect of ISO's standardization work, or on ISO standards for a particular sector. A regular feature is the centre page spread which presents the theme of the Special Report via striking graphics. Originally launched with the October 2009 issue of ISO Focus magazine, the centre page graphic has become a firm favourite.
The pioneering 2009 centre spread is featured. The selection also includes the World Standards Day 2011 centre spread which highlighted the competition carried out via social media to produce a winning poster and which attracted the participation of young people around the world on the theme of International standards – Creating confidence globally.
The introduction to the calendar concludes: Best wishes for a happy, healthy and successful 2012 with the support of ISO standards – everyday, everywhere!
